Race Summary

SOARING FREE, away in good order to force the pace from between foes three or four wide, inched to the fore approaching the stretch, opened a clear advantage for the final furlong, then was hard ridden to hold sway. MIGHTY BEAU broke in the air to immediately trail, quickly gained a contending position near the inside, edged closer from the rail around the turn, worked his way out seven wide when straightened for the drive, loomed boldly in deep stretch but couldn't get up in a game try. PARKER RUN settled early and maneuvered in three or four wide, briefly lacked room entering the upper stretch, worked his way out six or seven wide for the final furlong and slowly was gaining at the end. BATTLE WON, lightly bumped at the start by HECKLE, was hustled along to gain a forward position five wide, raced prominently into deep stretch but couldn't muster the needed response. CHOSEN CHIEF gained a narrow lead near the inside early, lost the edge to the winner midway on the turn, remained in contention into the upper stretch but lacked a further account. WRZESZCZ edged in behind the dueling leaders on the backstretch, raced within easy striking distance around the turn three wide, eased out seven wide for the drive but flattened out when the test came. POMEROY, up close between foes four wide to force the issue from early on, continued close up in that manner into the final furlong and weakened. DEL MAR SHOW, hung eight or nine wide to the end of the backstretch while outrun, edged in four wide on the turn, came a bit wider for the final furlong but never rallied. RED LIGHTNING, four wide on the backstretch and around the turn, came eight wide into the stretch and tired. RELAUNCH STAR was outrun. HECKLE came out at the start bumping lightly with BATTLE WON and tired early.
