Race Summary

SILVERFOOT went up early to gain a slight edge between foes, went along under careful handling while accomplishing modest fractions, allowed GOTTABEACHBOY the lead just before going a mile, regained the advantage entering the stretch, kicked clear, then held sway under pressure. ROCHESTER, never far back while lightly rated in behind the dueling leaders, eased out four or five wide for the drive, had aim at the winner through the final furlong but couldn't make up the difference. EPICENTRE, well placed in behind the dueling leaders early, raced near the inside, loomed menacingly from the rail through the stretch and wasn't good enough. GOTTABEACHBOY, forwardly placed from the beginning while racing in the three path, gained a slight edge just before going a mile, battled with the winner while inside that one to the stretch and weakened. GULF NEWS, reserved three wide early, continued three or four wide when making a mild run into the upper stretch but couldn't sustain the needed momentum. GREY BEARD tracked the pace four or five wide in hand, raced in contention to the final quarter, angled seven wide for the stretch run and faltered. RAPID PROOF went up early under light rating to force the pace three abreast, continued forwardly until the final quarter and weakened.
