Race Summary

SHADOW CAST was eased back last four wide, commenced a sweeping run three furlongs out when five wide, reached the front a sixteenth out and was ridden hard the remainder. ISLAND SAND, a bit edgy in the gate prior to the start, settled quickly, moved up nicely five wide around the far turn, loomed boldly between rivals while just inside the winner through the drive and wasn't good enough. STORM'S DARLING bobbled slightly at the start, worked her way near the inside by the first turn to track the dueling leaders, eased out three or four wide entering the far turn, took over, managed a clear advantage into the final furlong and weakened late. PERSONAL LEGEND, within easy striking distance while under light rating between foes three wide, continued between foes into the lane, was clear of traffic in the drive after working his way out six wide in the final furlong but couldn't muster the needed response. STAR PARADE (ARG) hopped slightly at the break, raced under light restraint four wide, made a bold run to gain near even terms for the lead approaching the stretch, then flattened out when straightened away for the drive. LA REASON settled inside early, saved ground when edging up on the far turn, came around RESPLENDENCY to race between foes into the lane three wide, returned to the rail for the drive and was empty. RESPLENDENCY contested the pace inside TEMPUS FUGIT from early on, gained a slight edge, was headed by that rival between calls on the backstretch, continued forwardly for nearly six furlongs and weakened gradually. TWO TRAIL SIOUX, hopped slightly at the start, was checked behind STORM'S DARLING approaching the first turn while near the inside, recovered quickly, raced near the inside between foes, was again steadied behind STORM'S DARLING about the seven-sixteenths pole and dropped back. TEMPUS FUGIT, ridden away from the gate and briefly in front, battled with RESPLENDENCY while outside that one, again reached the front between calls midway on the backstretch, faded entering the far turn and was distanced when not persevered with in the stretch when hopelessly beaten.
