Race Summary

MIGHTY BEAU went up early to press front-running DE VALMONT (AUS) four wide, wrested command in the upper stretch, kicked clear, edged closer to the inside and was under intermittent urging in the drive. CHOSEN CHIEF, bumped at the start but never far back, raced three wide in behind the leaders, angled four wide for the drive, had aim at the winner from the outside but wasn't good enough. SGT. BERT, always well placed and racing near the hedge to the stretch, angled five wide for the drive, worked his way back in to be two wide for the last eighth but couldn't offer the needed response. WRZESZCZ, outsprinted early, edged up behind the leaders approaching the stretch, moved four or five wide into the stretch and offered a minor gain. PARKER RUN, a bit sluggish to begin and outrun three or four wide for three furlongs, came out between foes five or six wide for the drive but gained only slightly at the end. DE VALMONT (AUS) came out and bumped CHOSEN CHIEF at the start, gained the lead near the inside, opened a clear lead leaving the turn but weakened gradually in the drive. DEPUTY STORM worked his way in to stalk the pace four or five wide, continued within striking distance until the final quarter and flattened out. ELEGANT FAME, used early to race within striking distance although six or seven wide, remained seven wide on the turn and never threatened. TESTIFY was outrun four wide to the stretch, circled foes 10 wide into the stretch and never menaced. MONTSTAR, five or six wide, weakened leaving the turn.
