Race Summary

STELLAR MAGIC broke alertly then was taken back from the rail and raced unhurried to the second turn, commenced his bid from the inside at the three eighths, swung outside horses nearing the quarter pole to enter the lane three wide, collared TEXCESS in mid stretch and edged clear driving. TEXCESS chased CALIFORNIA CHOICE from the outside to the second turn, forged to the front and drew clear in the upper stretch but shortened stride late and could not stall the winner. KING MOBAY was fractious at the gate then broke a bit slow and content to trail to the second turn and passed only tiring horses. CHIPS ARE DOWN stalked the pace three wide for six furlongs and came up empty. TALKING TO JOHN was permitted to settle while three wide to the backstretch, remained out on the second turn but had no response. SHARP WRITER was not asked for speed while racing just outside the winner to the second turn then could not go with that rival and failed to offer a bid. CALIFORNIA CHOICE was quickly in front and crossed over to the rail on the first turn, set the pace to the second turn then had nothing left.
