Race Summary

RUSH BAY, reserved early, was never far back while following the leaders four or five wide, was put to a drive leaving the five-sixteenths pole, continued five wide when taking over in the upper stretch, opened a clear advantage, then lasted under pressure. BIG PRAIRIE, in hand near the inside early, eased out on the backstretch to race between foes three or four wide, lacked room when pocketed between foes between the five-sixteenths and three-sixteenths poles, worked his was outside the winner soon after and was up for the place. GUN SALUTE, well placed from early on while rated along four wide, loomed prominently between the top two in the late going and couldn't get up. CHATHAM STRAIT went up early to press front-running GROUND CONTROL three or four wide, reached the front briefly between calls in the upper stretch, angled closer to the inside, then weakened with the rider dropping his whip nearing the final sixteenth. MESAWMI, in hand near the inside from early on, raced within easy striking distance, eased out three or four wide for the drive but lacked the needed response. FRANKLIN'S TOWER settled inside early, was unhurried, swung out six wide entering the stretch and flattened out at the end. GROUND CONTROL moved to the front at the start, raced in hand two wide, made the pace to the stretch and faltered.
