Race Summary

REY DE CAFE, up close between foes early, eased out four wide on the backstretch when patiently handled, angled six abreast when straightened for the drive and closed determinedly to prevail. RUSH BAY, never far back while stalking the pace four or five wide, made a bold run to poke his head in front between calls in deep stretch, then failed to contain the winner's surge. GUILLAUME TELL (IRE) eased out to race four wide entering the backstretch, was between horses approaching the stretch, remained three wide in the late going but couldn't offer a serious late response. DUBLEO, well placed in behind the leaders early, eased out to press front-running MOTH BALL (GB) on the backstretch, battled on even terms with that rival but was empty when the real test came. CLASSIC CAMPAIGN broke out at the start, hit the gate and bumped with PIRATES BITE, leaned in soon after bumping RUSH BAY, was taken in hand, raced three or four wide, moved inside beginning the far turn, angled to the rail in the final furlong and offered a slight gain. EXCEPTIONAL RIDE settled near the inside while dropping back last, raced three wide for six furlongs, came out nine or 10 wide for the drive and offered a minor gain. CHATTAHOOCHEE WAR stalked the pace from early on, raced forwardly into the upper stretch and flattened out when the test came. MOTH BALL (GB) gained the lead early, maneuvered in to race three wide, managed a slight edge into the final furlong and weakened. PIRATES BITE raced forwardly four or five wide for five furlongs and weakened thereafter.
