Race Summary |
|
SPUN SUGAR , carried
out six wide into the first turn, attended the pace three wide down the
backstretch, lodged a bid leaving the far turn, took command mid way on the
final turn, turned back a challenge from R LADY JOY in upper stretch and
edged away under a drive. R LADY JOY, in tight between rivals into and around
the first turn, settled into a stalking position down the backstretch, ranged
up four wide into the lane to loom boldly, switched to her left lead near the
furlong marker, flattened out but remained clear for the place. PLEASANT
CHIMES saved ground while forwardly placed, steadied leaving the four and a
half furlong pole, angled out leaving the far turn, chased the leaders into
the lane, angled back in but lacked the needed response. RUNWAY MODEL, bumped
at the break, saved ground early and failed to respond. PRIVATE GIFT, in
tight at the break, lost ground four to five wide nearing the half mile
marker, raced in close attendance into the far turn then retreated. MERRILL
GOLD had her rider's left rein break soon after the start, drifted out some
entering the first turn, was astutely guided back towards the inside nearing
the backstretch, was guided by her rider gripping the left side of her
bridle, set the pace for six furlongs, remained a presence to the quarter
pole, tired and was eased from the three sixteenth's marker. |
